BOING!

Notes

Mr. Saturn is a happy little creature that lives in Saturn Valley. In EarthBound, the village offers a relaxing detour where the friends can gather their thoughts over refreshments. Like any good bed and breakfast hosts, the Mr. Saturn offer complimentary refills of both HP and PP. When the team first enters Saturn Valley, they are haggard and run-down, weary and short of supplies. The hospitality and generosity of Mr. Saturn resonate deeply with any tired adventurer. In War of the Fanboys, there may be times when a player feels backed up against the ropes. The Fanboys are all offline and the coins are all spent. A freebie may mean a lot to someone down on their luck. Before too long, they could be ruling the world. BOING!

The first card shows Mr. Saturn riding on Nessís back in the opening cinema of Super Smash Bros Melee. Somehow, Mr. Saturn found enough love to be included in two of the three Smash Bros games so far, though he acts as little more than a punching bag. The second card shows Mr. Saturnís 2D origins from Earthbound.

Previous Versions

In previous versions of War of the Fanboys, Mr. Saturn had an extra function: he gave players the choice of buying an additional Hero card instead of playing a card for free. In a lot of WotF matches, players would grab up the cards as quickly as possible to try and get the best ones right off the bat. Mr. Saturn gave players who got him early in the game the chance to scoop up more cards for later use. WotF also originally allowed for the purchase of 4 cards per turn, but card buying in WotF 3.0 was ultimately cut back due to the inclusion of more attack-oriented cards. Mr. Saturn art is from the EarthBound Playerís Guide.
