Card Info

Title: Sheild a
Cost:

0 coins

Quantity:

x2

Play:

Play when an opponent declares an invasion into a contested territory.

Description:

The invaded territory may not be attacked for the rest of the current player's turn.

Notes

The most basic form of Shield protects any single character from attack. In War of the Fanboys, this translates to a single territory. Shield a was developed to represent the different levels of the psionic abilities, which usually had separate tiers of strength, and was designed to be a weaker version of Shield B.

The cards show the left step and right step Ness sprites from Earthbound. The horizontal lines are two different colors and stages of the Shield battle animation, and the background is also from Earthbound.

Previous Versions

Shield a was originally Shield Omega, which actually would have made it the strongest Shield in EarthBound. Again, when War of the Fanboys was first created, most of the online resources available now weren’t around, so most of the cards were conjured from memories of the various games. Since then, Shield a was lowered in price, though the quantity and description remained the same. The artwork seen here comes from the EarthBound Player’s Guide and is identical to the Shield Sigma card that existed.
