Card Info

Title: Ice Kirby
Cost:

1 coin

Quantity:

x1

Play:

Play before your first invasion.

Description:

Choose an opponent's Hero. That Hero may not attack, move, or redeploy during your opponent's next turn.

Notes

Ice is one of the abilities Kirby can assimilate. The block of ice motif is common in video games, and Kirby ices opponents in many of his adventures. Use Ice Kirby to encase an enemy Hero in a block of ice, immobilizing them for a turn. Use this to stop Pikachu from dropping thunderbolts on you during a massive invasion, or to perhaps strand Mario on a territory where he has no tactical advantage, potentially setting him up for an easy knockout with a Fire Blast or the like. Theres so much that can happen in a round of War of the Fanboys, that the Hero will need to chill out after he thaws out.

The artwork shows Kirby in Kirby Super Star, donning the headdress of ice crystals that he adopts with the ice ability. To his right is a frozen enemy, which appears as a stand-in for the Heroes of WotF. As is obvious, the baddie in the icicle isnt going to be moving anytime soon.

Clarifications

Does Ice Kirby negate any other of my Heros other affects?

No. Players may still buy and play cards from the corresponding Heros deck. The Hero may defend normally. Fanboys may still invade into, invade from, and redistribute through territories which the Hero grants access to.

Ice Kirby vs Cape Feather: Can the frozen Hero be moved by Cape Feather or by any other card that explicitly moves Fanboys and/or Heroes?

Yes, cards like Cape Feather, Hookshot, Gust, Warp Star, Float Away, or Teleport B may still move the frozen Hero.

What if the Hero is destroyed before that opponents next turn?

If the Hero that Ice Kirby is used on is destroyed, the Ice Kirby card is dispelled. If your opponent purchases that same Hero on their next turn, they may use it uninhibited.

Previous Versions

Freeze Kirby was introduced in WotF 2.0 mostly as an effort to replace some of the useless cards hidden in the Kirby deck. For some reason, it was thought a good idea for the Freeze Kirby to make the afflicted Hero immune to other cards. I suppose it makes sense, as it would be hard to hit Mario with a Fire Blast when hes at the center of an ice cube, but this was eventually dropped and the price reduced. The image is a cropped version of official artwork from Nintendos Japanese Kirby of the Stars: The Fountain of Dreams Deluxe (Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land) website. The original can be found here, third row, fifth column.
