Card Info

Title: Swallow
Cost:

1 coin

Quantity:

x2

Play:

Play before your first invasion.

Description:

Choose an opponent and randomly discard one of their cards.

Notes

Before Kirby could copy enemies, he had two choices after he inhaled one. He could launch it as a Star, or he could swallow it and destroy the baddie completely. In the later games, this still works on the weaker enemies that donít have abilities for Kirby to copy. In this regard, Swallow is like the younger brother of Copy, but instead of taking a card for use, it merely destroys one. Its random nature means it requires a bit of luck, but if an opponent is stocking up for something big, this could wreck their plans.

Despite being a classic move, both pieces of artwork portray newer games. The first shows Kirby just randomly inhaling on the DSís Kirby: Squeak Squad. The second, which is very fitting for War of the Fanboys, shows Kirby half swallowing Mario from Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Clarifications

Lakitu vs Swallow: Can I use Lakitu to fish out the card that was discarded?

No. Lakitu is played in response to a card being activated. Swallow is the card that is activated, and it is the only card that Lakitu can take. The card that is discarded is never activated, so Lakitu cannot take it.

Can I choose a card from a specific deck?

No. Even though the types of cards a player has is public knowledge, random means random. Pick a card with your eyes closed or from under a table to make sure you donít know what youíre getting.
